About The Bushbabies – Luxury Self-Catering Accommodation
Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate Limpopo
Today the area around Hoedspruit is known as a Wildlife Haven in South Africa where the majority of game farms have dropped their fences bordering the Kruger National Park to include more than 180 000 hectares creating the Greater Kruger Park which now exceeds 20 000 000 hectares.
Cathy and Rodney are the joint owners of The Bushbabies. They are both passionate about the bush, nature and conservation often referring to themselves as “the bushbabies” (hence the name of the lodge).
Between them they have visited a huge number of parks, conservancies and reserves including Etosha Pan, Okavango Swamps, Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, Savuti Channel, Linyanti Swamp, Chobe National Park, Hluhluwe/Umfalozi, the Namib Desert, Lapalala, Ais-Ais/ Richtersveld Transfrontier Park, Tsitsikamma Coastal Park and of course Kruger National Park to name just a few.
This afforded them the opportunity to gain a wealth of experience and broaden their knowledge with regard to wildlife, birdlife, conservation and biodiversity and the very best in the hospitality industry.
Both had dreamed to live in the bush and Rodney had a vision to develop a lodge which would, amongst others, address the needs of the disabled. In 2013 they decided to fulfill their life’s dream by moving into the bushveld and building a small six sleeper Lodge.
The first sod was turned at the beginning of 2015 and the bush retreat was ready for occupation by November of the same year.
